Go Dive Now Pool – Coming to the Chattanooga Market

Saturday, June 4 from 11am to 7pm Sunday, June 5 from Noon to 4pm

FREE for anyone ages 10 and up. (Ages 10-12 must be accompanied by an adult in the water)

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to be a diver at the Tennessee Aquarium, you can take the plunge June 4 & 5 at the Chattanooga Market.

Mark Craven, the Aquarium’s dive safety officer, has been working with the Diving Equipment and Marketing Association, DEMA, to bring a 15,000 gallon mobile pool to town. The “Go Dive Now Pool” travels the U.S. to give the public the chance to try SCUBA diving in a safe environment - free of charge.

This will be a great opportunity for anyone, ages 10 and up, to experience what it’s like to gear up and get wet just like the nearly 180 volunteer SCUBA divers at the Tennessee Aquarium. “We have an amazing group of volunteers, but we could always use more
since we dive 363 days each year,” said Craven. “Hopefully bringing the DEMA Go Dive Now Pool in town will raise awareness of our large, dedicated group of divers and encourage others to become SCUBA certified so they can become volunteer divers too.”

There is no waiting list to become a volunteer diver. Anyone who meets the requirements can join the next class when recruiting begins again in January.  http://www.tnaqua.org/volunteer-opportunities/volunteer-diver
