Nature Nuts:  Owls are Awesome!

Sunday, February 16, 2020
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Owls generally swallow their prey whole but, they are not able to digest certain parts like bones, teeth, claws, and fur. Therefore, after owls eat, their stomachs pack the  undigested parts into a ball called a “pellet” that is cast back up. Dissecting an owl pellet allows us to learn about the owl’s diet. This is a great way for kids to learn about owls and to get hands-on experience with  dissection. Please note that the owl presentation must start promptly at 2:00. In order to see that you must enter the building no later than 1:40.  This program will take place at the Tennessee Aquarium.

What is the Nature Nuts Club? Join Aquarium educators and guest experts for a monthly nature club, especially for children ages 5-12! The Tennessee Aquarium's Nature Nuts come together to connect children and their families to the amazing diversity of nature in our own backyards and around the world.  Our goal is to kindle a lifelong appreciation for the natural world. Topics vary month to month. Children ages 5-12 are encouraged to sign-up. Some meetings are at the Tennessee Aquarium and others are in the field at designated Chattanooga locations.
